Thank the Lord, we are home!

Well, after what seems like forever, I finally have an update for you.  I got a question through Blogger today inquiring as to our location and realized I had not updated the blog to reflect it! We are at 1835 Wade Hampton Boulevard in Greenville.  If you are familiar with the Greenville area, we are in the strip mall opposite two Greenville landmarks, Bob Jones University and the Clock restaurant. Look for our sign on the building.  I wanted to put service times and other information on the sign, but the powers that be in the Greenville Permits Office would not allow anything except the church name on the sign! We are right beside Joyce Equipment, still meeting at 11:00 am on Sundays and Thursday nights at 6:30 for Bible study.  We would be pleased if you would join us for worship.  I am currently preaching verse by verse through the gospel of John on Sundays and we are working our way through Exodus on Thursday nights.  We sing hymns and pray together and open God's Word.  We have no laser show or guitars, but we do have a nursery for your toddlers and a desire to see people come to know Christ.  We would love to meet you, so come and join us!

Moving day again!!

Well, a lot has happened since my last post.  Our lease runs out at the end of 2012, and we will be moving, but I can't say for sure where just yet!  In the meantime, we have ceased evening services for now.  So, until further notice, our worship services will be Sunday morning at 11:00, and we are having Bible study on Thursday nights at 6:30.

Merry Christmas and happy New Year!  Please remember that the baby in the manger is all grown up and is returning as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  I pray that you are ready to meet Him!

Big news . .Sunday night services starting October 7!

That's right, folks, Word of Truth has grown to the point where we will start having Sunday night services.  We will now be meeting for worship on Sundays at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm.  (And NO, the services are not identical, so it wouldn't kill you to come to both!) In addition, we still are holding our Bible study on Tuesday nights at 6:30 pm.

To kick off this new chapter in our history, Word of Truth Baptist Church will be holding a Bible Conference October 7-9, 2012.  The theme will be The Book, the Blood, and the Blessed Hope.  There will be special music as well as expository Bible teaching on these three foundational doctrines.  The Sunday night meeting will be at 6:00 pm while the Monday and Tuesday night sessions will begin at 7:00 in consideration of work schedules.  I hope you will make time to join us for this exciting conference!

Update!

Well, we have much to update.  We are thankful for the increase in attendance these last few weeks.   There were 19 of us in worship this morning, AND this was the second Sunday morning with both a piano and a piano player!  We have several prayer requests to pass along.  Please continue to pray for Jennifer as she begins chemotherapy this week as well as undergoing surgery.  Pray for Josh and Summer as they recover.  Pray for health concerns for Armando, Mike and Faye.  Several others have unspoken requests for their families.  Please pray the Lord will give us wisdom as we grow and progress toward incorporation one of these days, as there are legal hurdles in that process.  And, if you are looking for a church home where the Bible is preached in a straightforward manner, where people are genuinely loving, please come and join us for worship on Sunday mornings at 11:00.  We have just begun a sermon series on the 10 commandments.   

Merry Christmas!

Word of Truth will not be holding our regular Sunday worship service this week.  All of our regulars will be spending time with family on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, which we encourage.  Please join us on January 1, 2012 at 11:00 am for our first worship service of the new year.  In the meantime, have a wonderful and safe Christmas, and remember the Christ is the center of Christmas.  Please pray for Jennifer and her family as she prepares to undergo cancer treatment soon.

And He Shall Reign

Well, excitement is building as Christmas draws closer.  This Sunday the message will be titled And He Shall Reign, from Luke 1:26-33.  Come and join us and see what is happening at Word of Truth.  Remember, Jesus is not just the baby in the manger; He's Lord of all creation!

It's Time!

Well, if you have driven north on Highway 25 recently, you might already know this.  Word of Truth Baptist Church is officially meeting at 564B North Highway 25 in Travelers Rest!  For those of you who need landmarks, leave Greenville going north on Highway 25.  After you pass George Coleman Ford, you're getting close.  There is a Spinx gas station on the right at the intersection of Highway 25 and Tigerville Road.  Another couple of hundred yards on the right is a driveway going down off the road toward El Rancho Grande.  We are across the parking lot from El Rancho, and will be open for worship 11:00 am on December 11!  Come and join us and bring a friend.
